We all know that part of the Scriptures that says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom. 10:17 (KJV). This is true in all entirety, but then it’s also valid that “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26 (KJV).
Most times, we feel its just sufficient to daily read through a chapter or some verses of the Bible to fulfill all righteousness, but then I’m writing this morning to “remind” us that despite our busyness, we should make out time to meditate on God’s word to obey it.
It’s not enough to just hear the word; we must personalise, internalise, and utilise the Word of God so that we can profit from it.
Throughout the Bible, we see examples of individuals who, despite the fact that they heard the word, failed to utilise it profitably.
Achan is an example, he heard all the words of Joshua, yet he didn’t profit because of the gold and riches of Jericho; Ahab did not profit from the words of Elijah because he was like a puppet to his wife; Balaam didn’t profit from the words of the angel because of covetousness; Lot’s wife did not profit from the words of the angel because of worldliness, Jezebel was power drunk and did not profit from the word either; Judas Iscariot did not profit from even the personal words of Christ! How about Demas, who didn’t profit from the words of Paul because of friendship with the world?
How about you?
Is the Word profitable to your soul?
Think on these things…
